Have we taken personal freedom too far?

One thing about American people is, we will take issues and problems and literally run with them. Not only do we take the "only worry about me attitude," But nothing really effects us unless it happens directly to us! We need to share responsibility in our society, on how we raise our children and also who we vote for. Just a few of these examples shows us why we go too far.

Certain words were not always able to be said in the media, but today curse words are heard all over the place. Children were not allowed to watch television during prime time, but today they are the audience. Because of our civil liberties, we are a nation that just consumes more and more! The worse that something is, the more we want it. The now Govenator of California could kill two-hundred people in one segment of a film, say, "I'll be back," and we accepted that also.

We are only a mere reflection of what we should be today. Responsibility is something that each one of us should take when looking at our societies ills. "It takes a tribe to raise a child." Are we really interested in that philosophy any more?

Do we have a government who really cares about us? As the strongest nation in the world, are we really leaders? Or have we somehow gotten lost in the shuffle? For those who don't vote, stop complaining about gas prices and what you don't have. By not voting, you don't have the right. For those who are reaching for more, cudos. We as a country will have a very hard time spreading Democracy, if we can't take care of those that are already here. After all, we are the mirror image of ourselves. We all should stand up and take a shared responsibility for what we create!

I disagree, by voting you have no right to complain because you put them in office and it's your fault as a voter if they fuck up because you put them there.

Btw America isn't a democracy but a Constitutional republic

I really don't think that people liking action movies with a lot of death has anything to do with why our countries going down the drain. (And The Governator didn't kill people in the second or third movie)

And I don't see why we ought to be spending our resources spreading democracy. Not only is it expensive, but impossible.

And, SoD, what if you vote for the losers?

I haven't thought that out yet, but I'm gonna go with that they can complain because their candidate didn't win, so they have every right to complain about them.

:)X Yeah, I'll whine plenty if the person I voted for wins and turns out to suck. Why? If I vote for someone, it is because I believe they will do a decent, at least, job. If they don't, they've broken their promises to the American people.

Lol, but you voted for them though, they lied and you put them in office.

At least me, I'll whine because I knew they'd fuck up so I whine because I was right all along.

Bad logic? You decide. lol
