Get a move on.

I travel a lot. Well, relative to the average Nigerian that travels once a year, I travel TWICE a year, and not just to London and America. I go to other African countries and, surprise, surprise, (at least for the Nigerians) continental Europe.

Like any normal girl, I love to shop. And shopping means walking long distances around the one same mall,  but that's not the point. This is: Nigerians and Americans (particularly Texans) don't walk enough. Maybe it's because Texas has virtually no public transportation system, and so everyone has to rely on cars, and maybe it's because Nigerians are caught up in the whole ideal of luxury. They have this idea that if you own a car, or can afford a taxi or okada, then you shouldn't be walking. Conclusion: Walking is for poor people.

But, I walk. And I'm not poor. I like walking. Recently, I walked all the way from Garki II to Maitama. A rather stupid move, since I couldn't walk for two days after, but I still did it. People in London, I've noticed, walk a lot more than people in Nigeria and America. London is more accessible than suburban America, but still.

I think it's important for us to move our bodies somewhat regularly. For those of you that are afraid, (and believe me, I used to be one of them) you feel really good afterwards. Not to mention proud.
