It seems all anyone is talking about these days is who is going to be in the White House come next January. It's not enough that we have to listen to all the campaign ads on TV but I have to listen to it everywhere I go. I listen to people complaining about the current administration and worrying that the next one will be worse. Don't get me wrong - I'm very interested in the campaign for President. However, all the grumbling I hear is from people that are too lazy to get out and vote for our elected leaders. That really seems to chap me. You see in my opinion, if you don't bother to get out and vote for our elected officials then you don't have any license to gripe or complain about anything they do once they are in office. You lost the chance to have your say on election day when you didn't go to the polls and cast your ballot.
Our country was founded on the principles of representation of the people, by the people and for that representation to be truly effective you and I have to do our part and get out and vote for those that run for office to represent our needs before congress, city council, the mayor's office, as president, or whatever race is being elected at the time. Here's something to think about...thousands upon thousands of men and women throughout the history of our young country have died defending your right to vote - don't let them have died in vain. Take the time, register and vote in the elections this year. Have a say in the decisions that are being made on your behalf in your local area as well as those being made in Washington; and if you don't like what your representation is doing on your behalf, call them on it. Remember, they work for you.
Good night everyone.
