Popping The Progressive Cherry

I'm popping my progressiveu cherry as it were with something that's bothered me for several weeks now.
I've so often visited Berkeley, city of, and the University but I've found it leaves a rather sour taste in my mouth as of late. It could be all the Code Pink v. Marines issue, no I take that back. It IS the Code Pink v. Marines issue! I can't even mention the dang town without people making a face. I'm so irritated with the whole scenario. I suppose I'd be fine with it all if it wasn't so ridiculous. People have a right to speak out, they have a right to free speech. But what happens when they bar themselves against the doors so people can't enter? What about the person who wants to go in? Don't those people attempting to go in have a right to join the military if they so chose? Now, DO NOT get me wrong. Just because I didn't graduate from Berkeley doesn't mean I didn't go to school and live there and the environment certainly rubs off on you.
I don't support the war, or our reasons for being there. It's a ridiculous situation, put in place by a ridiculous man but it is what it is. Besides, in a several months we wont have to hear much more out of that particular mouth anyhow. I digress.
The actions of Code Pink so remind me of the actions of protesters in front of PPH, shaming me from walking in. Go Ahead, wave your protest banners, but I don't see you offering your services to make sure I'm healthy, to make sure I'm equipped with the proper tools to practice safe sex. Rather, you call me a whore all the while, I was a poor college student in a MONOGOMOUS trying to be safe and get birth control.
I guess all I'm saying is go ahead, protest the war. It's your constitutional right, but don't hinder the rights of those who want to join the military.
