Fray Bartolomé of the towns of
Seville, Spain, was born November 1484. He was the first bishop of
Chiapas, Mexico and arrived in the new world in 1514. By arriving to the new world he saw the living conditions of the native people. He used this as inspiration, and wrote books including his observations and the accounts of the indigenous people of the new world. His two big hits are The History of the Indians, and Brief Relation of the Indian Destruction.

Fray Bartolomé was a leader for the natives in the new world. Many photos of him have the same symbolism. He is usually depicted with a pen—for his literature, and a native—the muses of his literature.

Furthermore, his achievements lead him to the position of one of the final editors of Christopher Columbus’ diary.

Bartolomé is important to the world, and the awareness about the Indians and the poor. Moreover, the awareness about the lives of the Indians can be sinonimos to the poor of the world. And it is possible to bring a connection to the importance of awareness to the importance of education. More awareness is important to the world as is more education is just as imperative to the world. Bartolome helped the world to recognize the problems the poor go though day to day. Sometimes, we need this reminder.
