Update 3: Sorry for the extended downtime today and part of yesterday. Upgrades never go as planned!
We promise it will all be worth it in the end. Please let us know if you experience any further problems.
Tonight we completed a major upgrade of our website software. You won't notice any major differences yet, but this paves the way for quite a few new features and cosmetic changes over the next couple of weeks. In the near term, here are a few things to be aware of:
- User names are now Case sEnsiTive (as are passwords). If you are having trouble logging in, check to make sure that you are entering your user name with the same capitalization (or lack thereof) as in your user profile.
- When you create a new blog post, you may need to click "enable rich-text" below the Body form to get the editor controls.
- NEW: You may also want to clear the cache on your browser. The cache sometimes causes login problems, and it will also cause some format changes in the site to not work correctly. For example, if "Think Progress..." at the top of the front page is in a very small font, this is caused by the browser cache. On Firefox you can clear your cache by going to Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Cache -> Clear Cache Now.
- We apologize for the slow performance during and after the upgrade. We have cleaned things up a bit, and it should be better now.
- The missing read count error has been fixed.
More changes are on the way (hopefully mostly good ones!). Please let us know if you experience any problems.

Is it just me, or is ProU very slow now?
It's not just you.

Viva la revolucion!
is this part of the upgrade?
I noticed that too, and it's kind of annoying not being able to see how many reads different posts are getting. I hope they're planning to bring back the read counters.
About this 'Most e-mailed' category... where is the option to e-mail blogs? The only options I see are to subscribe to the blog and subscribe to the post.

I was wondering why nobody was using that feature recently! There was a permissions problem, so most people couldn't see it. It should be fixed now.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Where'd the 'Active Threads' link go? (not topics... but where it actually shows the replies to the blogs and whatnot)

That was a temporary casualty of our database crash on Sunday, but we finally got it back now.
Thanks for all the comments; keep letting us know if you see any problems!
Boy, am I glad it's not just me! I noticed in your "And the winners are..." you mention 'bickering'. I thought I was back in elementary/high school in some of the blogs. . . including my own! Considering I find it counterproductive to "progression" and due to the fact that I specialize in conflict resolution, I found it a bit nerve wracking.
At least I know you take notice and even, dare I ask, encourage it?
Needless to say, I dropped out of the "Blogging for Scholarship" since it seemed noone was going to vote unless they weren't involved with the scholarship themselves. Now I'm just here for informative, insightful dialogue!!
