Was anybody saying, “Blood For Oil!” when Bush Sr. did it?

Ever since the war in Iraq started on April 9 in 2002, heck! even before it got started, a lot of people were congregating around their TV sets, radios, computers, and even held protests in our nations streets, with signs to match, stating, “BLOOD FOR OIL”. Now, I have a question: Where was all that hoopla when Bush Sr. did it!

I mean, wasn’t the 1st Iraq war , hands down, really about oil? Ask yourself these questions: Why did Bush Sr. have to go to war with Iraq when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait? What interest did the U.S. have in Kuwait to help them against Saddam Hussein? Weren't there other countries closer to us we could have helped militarily? What was so special about Kuwait do defend it against a dictator like Saddam Hussein?

Humans rights organizations for a decade, before the 1991 war, complained to the Reagan's and Bush Sr.’s administration of Saddam Hussein’s human rights violations. From the killing of 150,000 Iranians to the killing of 13,000 of his own people and, yet, the U.S. government did not even lift not one finger to stop him. So what changed with the invasion of Kuwait in 1990?

Well, this time, Saddam was messing with the OIL. You see Kuwait is a small oil-rich country in the Middle East and the invasion on Kuwait gave the U.S. an opportunity to strategically situate themselves, permanently, in the Persian Gulf; with their eyes fix on the oil of Kuwait. But why then does so many people say that the war in Iraq, now, is for oil while the war in Iraq under Bush Sr. was clearly because of oil and everybody supported that war.

That question I leave up to you to answer if you are of those minds, when it comes to the war in Iraq now, who say, "BLOOD FOR OIL!"
