And We're Off!

We are now one full day into the Blogging for Progress Scholarship; and thus far every one is doing a wonderful job! Keep the blogs coming. No doubt, for you members who have been here for a little while, you've already noticed the recent changes in software and layout. That's not all that's changed!

• The FAQ has been completely reworked by Progressive U's awesome editorial team. Answers are now easier to find and there are more of them! If you haven't seen it yet, please make sure to check it out and see what other tidbits of information you might have missed.

• A few changes have been made to the Official Contest Rules. Make sure that you read through and understand these rules. As with anything else - ignorance is no excuse! :) If you have any questions about these, there's usually a moderator or 8 floating around you can ask.

• Speaking of moderators... we have invited several to join our team. These people are here to help you with your questions, and make sure you're all following the guidelines as set up in the Terms of Service. The answers to any questions you may have that are not found in the FAQ can sometimes be obtained by sending a message along.

• And, although they haven't changed yet, remember that Progressive U reserves the right to change its Terms of Service Agreement at any time. This is a normal practice; while we do try to make sure we announce any changes, sometimes that's not always possible (hey, we can forget things too, you know!) - so make sure you check every once in a while to see if any changes were made that might affect you.

• Remember to nominate your favorite bloggers to become featured! We want to know who your favorites are and why, so tell us so we can pass on the praise!

• And, if you're having a little bit of trouble thinking of things to say, you can always check out our News Page. Some moderators have listed a few news stories that they have found interesting for you to take a look at and see what you can do with it. Take advantage! Grab a news story and run with it - see what you can discover and share with the rest of us.

• We've also started Networking outside of Progressive U. We strive to make ourselves different from social networking sites such as Myspace and Facebook, but we do recognize that many of our members do use those sites as well. So, we have formed various groups and accounts on those sites, so you can share ProU, and get updates before many on the site. So, join the Facebook group, or friend us on Bebo or Myspace. If you have any further suggestions of where Progressive U should be, or if you belong to another site and would like to see us there, e-mail network@progressiveu.org.

• We're trying to make this the best contest yet - and with your help and participation it will be... :) We've added new features you can get points for - like inviting your friends, rating posts, and having your friends register. Also, by popular demand, we've implemented a feature where you can see an estimated number of points you've earned so far in this contest by checking out your profile. This number does not include reads or bonus point opportunities - but it does give you a better idea of how you're doing... :)

• Finally - we implemented a search feature for this site a couple months ago. You can use this to find older blogs, and even to help keep your own blog unique and original. What do I mean? Well, if you want to blog about a hot topic, search for it, and see if you can find a new perspective that hasn't been touched yet! Keep yourself standing out, and avoid writing up the same regurgitated facts you can find at so many other blog sites...
