Commercials, could they be more helpful?

Why don’t we ever have commercials that inform us about Crystal Meth? Or Cocaine, or Heroin? Why are there commercials that inform us about marijuana – a drug that can be used for medical conditions? Don’t get me wrong. We need to stop the generation from taking the “gate-way” drug. But that’s not the only lethal and dangerous drug in this country.

Based on my experience, and what I’ve seen. Crystal Meth users are more dangerous than Marijuana users. Crystal Meth users will do anything it takes them to get more money to buy more drugs – even stealing cars – even from a relative. Crystal Meth is also more lethal because it’s harder to break the addiction.

It amazes me how we have commercials can teach the younger generation so much, but they don’t them what can potentially save them. For example, saving them from dangerous drugs like Ice even Cocaine. But instead they show stuff that is appropriate for the younger generation, perversion on TV, sex, violence, and shows that have no moral values. I like TV, yea. But there is so much that it can teach the younger generation.

So it makes you think? Should there be commercials that inform us about important issues?

That would be great, ideally.
But the world seems to thrive more on ambitions and wealth more than critical issues obviously pervading younger generations in America. Rather than help them, which is a PAIN, since kids don't like being taught (and are rebellious), naturally, corporations are more concerned on drawing their money. They are, by far, the most profitable generation anyway, more influential too. It's evident, drawing the masses does require lowering standards..

My concern is how much kids even want to care. The numbness they are capable of is disturbing. I don't even mind if they care for something completely off, at least they care, and eventually they could mature as they grow older............. though some are not as fortunate. ><

I wish that parents would pick up this burden and watch out for their own child -- don't even watch TV, really. Though, I feel as though many parents are just as ignorant. :( Not to be cynical. It's just what I find around me.

Anyway, I know this is a little off, but I hope it's not completely irrelevant...

Kids are not ignorant to the negative side effects or the potential dangers of the drugs they decide to experiment with. While not all modern educational programs address such topics, the information is so readily available through modern means, any curiosity is solved by the simple Google search, something even the most elementary of students is capable of. Humans analyze rhetorical methods almost subconsciously, making instantaneous judgments with bits of new knowledge and information as it become available; this process is being tuned continuously in adolescence, yet it is still sufficiently capable.

Instead of just picking on the gate-way drug, commercials should expand to more hazardous addictive drugs. Cocaine and Meth are biggies, I can see why you mention them. Certain drugs, like cocaine I think, can kill you on the first try. This is what we need PSA's (Public Service Announcements) about!
