As you know, the republican with the support of President Clinton accomplish welfare reform in the late 90's.
I had been thinking, should welfare be reformed, again? I am stuck between providing welfare for those mothers who desperately need welfare money to exist and those that take advantage of it.
I know that there is this perception of an inner city welfare queen who uses her welfare money to buy expensive clothes, homes, and cars because she is too lazy to get married but I do not believe that it is true.
I believe that there are many women out there who desperately need the money because there is no other way for them to survive their economic hardship and social instability.
I understand the world that these women live and how difficult it would be to survive if it has not been for welfare.
However, I cannot ignore some evidence of welfare frauds, and I hate to say this but especially the welfare fraud among white polygamist sect (i.e. FLDS) in parts of the United States.
There are evidence and stories of welfare frauds taken by the polygamist, with the largest recipient and tolerated group being the FLDS.
Many of these wives of plural marriage that lived in gated communities or sects would rely on welfare to provide for their existence.
Now I am not saying that all of the people that lived in the polygamist communities are welfare recipient but...
I do felt uneasiness toward wives of plural marriage that used the welfare money they receive from the federal government to give to their prophet or their one husband because of the father inability to provide for all of them.
For example:
“Hildale -- Welfare is often how polygamist communities like Hildale in Utah and Colorado City in Arizona substantially support themselves. Polygamists often use food stamps to feed their families. Former polygamist Benjamin Bisline said, "If it wasn't for government subsidies, these people couldn't survive. There are people here with 15 wives on welfare.'' Bisline still lives in a polygamist town.”
Why is that? Could it be that the men who are married to several women chose not to provide for their young to older wives or could it be that they see government as way to fund their polygamist society?
I just believe that if a man chose too married several wives and he had a job than it is his duty as a father and man to provide financial resources for all of them.
Why married several women, some of them teenagers if the men cannot and chose not to provide the financial resources for all of his wives.
By god, if you are going to engage in illegal activities such as polygamy than have the balls to take the personal responsibility to make your polygamist lifestyle on personal responsibility though your job not welfare.
I also felt uneasy knowing that a 16 year old girl with four kids would cheat the welfare system because she had been “married” to her husband ever since she was 12 years old and he couldn’t provide for her financially because of he had 6 or wives before her, who also are on welfare.
That is incest, and rape at it worst because not only are my tax dollar money going to fund the incestual lifestyle of young teenage girls wed to much older men but it also make it more easy to financial the incestual lifestyle of pheodphia who chose not to support their many wives even though they had high paying jobs, such as the sheriff or mayor.
If you chose to wed underage girls, than you must provide the financial responsibility of supporting them without my tax dollars. I understand that it is your religious belief that you will make it into heaven if you married many women but if you chose to married many women than be financially responsible.
I believe that marriage with an underage girls is morally and socially wrong because she don’t understand that a grown man is taking advantage of her but if he and his community tolerant those kind of behaviors than please don’t used welfare or my tax dollars to fund that lifestyle because the husband chose not provide financial support for he had too many wives and children.
I really don’t had a problem with an agreement of marriage between to consenting adults be they monogamy, homosexuals, or polygamist but I do had a problem with people who take advantage of the welfare to funded their incesual lifestyle because the husband chose not to provide financial assistance for the teenage bride.
At least the gays who want to get married are not using welfare to live their lifestyles.
Just look at the Amish and Quakers. They lived in their own worlds but they do not rely on government or the welfare for financial assistances.
On other thoughts, should polygamy be legalizing? If one legalize polygamy, would the men provide financial assistance for the women or continue to choose not to?
