New World
What have we done,
To achieve a world like this?
We’re disconnected to life,
And connected to this strive for bigger and better.
We have perverted this idea of love into a want for more.
For clothes, bigger cars, and more objects.
This is not what life is about, my friend.
This world is slowly going,
Towards something I am scared of.
It can be prevented,
But there is no love or passion in saving this world.
Who are we to buy these ludicrous cars?
We seem to be the only ones.
What makes us Americans different from the Europeans, the South Americans, or the people of Darfur?
We are taking part in making our atmosphere too big.
Why should the whole world be punished because of one country?
A new world is possible, and legit. Naturally, a lot of work is required.
This idea of a new world collides with the American Dream. The average American consumes the equivalent of 500 Africans each day.
Something has to change.
Something is going to change,
Weather it’s the world changing for the better,
Or us having to suffer the consequences of our generation not stepping up.
You’re choice.
do something good for someone today.
This is 200 words,....but it still says that I need more words...
so i am going to type a little bit more until it accepts that I have already written two hundred words.

I wish we could move away from this mass consumer culture we've created over history. What's to say history won't repeat itself? Roaring 20's then Great Depression ring a bell? Not saying this is inevitable, but let's not encourage it to happen.
Let's get focused back on making the world better. This generation has so much power, we just have to use it correctly.
We need a Great Depression. I just watched Fight Club...and people learn and listen when they're in danger or about to die.
Something like this would wake the world up.
It's bad to say that we need one i guess...but really...what's it going to take to open some people's eyes?
yea a lot of americans are like that but not all. one thing i do struggle with is materialistic people living in california and all. i really find it hard to understand half the kids i go to school with because i do not understand the obsession with MTV, Magazines, shopiing for 300$ pants, etc. However, i do want to speak up for the minority like me who try to be level headed. i hate when people are so obsessed with material things it makes me sick but at least i can say i have not spent more than 20 on a pair of jeans. oh and they dont have holes in them when i first buy them : )

there's makeup thats 500 bucks a bottle and clothes that can go for 5,000 bucks but nobody seems to want to spend 500 or 5,000 on charities or something that actually helps anybody. celebrities only care about what the new Vera Wang line is for Spring while there's people out there who can use the money to help people like Habitat for Humanity or whatever.
YEs and the one that really gets me is Oprah. Even thought she gives...everyone makes a HUGEEE deal about Oprah giving away a million dollars...there's even a show now thats called "Oprah's Big Give" where she is going to give away a million dollars.
AHHH OPRAH giving away a million dollars is like like me giving away 5 dollars. There's no BIG GIVE in that!
"The average American consumes the equivalent of 500 Africans each day."
Nice turn of phrase. Very descriptive, dramatic, and captures the concept of the post nicely.
