Do you believe in angels?

Do you?

I heard a story recently of an older man laying in a hospital bed feeling sorry for himself. He had fallen into a pit of despair. A man handing out newspapers was going around and asked the older man if he wanted a paper. The older man replied, "No, but I could sure use some prayer." The newspaper guy said, "Well, I can do that too." The stranger prayed with the elderly man, comforted him and then left. The old man felt so much better about his situation that he asked the nurses who that newspaper man was. The nurses replied saying that there wasn't any newspaper guy for the hospital, just female candy stripers. The man wasn't sure, but maybe he had experienced an angel.

Does anyone else out there have a story like this?

My husband and I were taking care of a group of young kids in a playground area a couple weeks ago. The kids were bouncing of the walls having a blast when we tried to calm them down and get them to make crafts. This playground area was in the corner of huge hotel atrium and many workers were looking up from the nearby restaurant to look at the kids. One chef stood by watching for a while with such delight. He went back and forth a couple times. When I realized that I didn't have a pen to write the kids names on their pictures, I turned and asked the chef if he had one. He went away but then came back with one. I wrote the kids names on their works of art and then looked over for the chef, but he was gone. It was getting close to lunch time. I look all over for him, but I ended up telling the reception that one of the workers had given me a pen, but I couldn't find him.

Now, I don't think the chef was an angel, but it did get me to thinking. Are there angels here on Earth? I definitely think that people can be angelic. The chef was probably just a nice guy that I may never see again. He was angelic though. He helped me out when I was in need. Sure, it was just a pen, but I still think it is profound. He could have said no. But are there real angels? There's that Joan Osborne song, "What if God was one of us?" What if God did send angels to help us? On buses or at work, anywhere.

Could there be angels among us, helping us and we don't really know about it? Or are they just angelic people?

What do you think?

I think that there are just good people who do, or try to do, good things. Nothing supernatural involved.

I know there are demons because of so many documented cases of people being pocessed, but that is the darker side.

You may have experienced a very nice person and what they call a good Aura. Everyone has it I call it a vibe but it is the same thing. Aura for anyone who does not know is: "A distinctive but intangible quality surrounding a person or thing."

We are all suppose to have an Angel, I have read this somewhere. I am not sure how true this is, but I believe in Angels. I am always conflicted with myself because I always need scientific evidence right in front of my eyes to fully believe 100% but I believe Angels exist.

On a scarier note I believe in spirits or ghosts. After my mom died she said my dad's name. He was in the bathroom and had just gotten out of the shower. I heard talking in the bathroom and my dog looks at the wall and freaks. He jumped right on the couch with my boyfriend and I. The look on my dad's face was priceless. My dog knows when my dad talks and does not react like that. My boyfriend of course is skeptical of ghost and spirits. This was spooky.

But Yes I believe in Angels 90%, until I see one it won't be 100%. :)

I believe that there are two kinds of angels. There are those of the spiritual world, whom God sends to watch over us, and that we may never actually see, or even feel their presence. And then there are the people who help out when we need it. Be they strangers or friends, they are still watching over us in their own way, with each kind act that they perform.

I've got an angel watching over me that I met through my fanfiction site. And through that same site, I became someone else's angel. (Of course, I only know that because we somehow ended up talking about it...)

And that's comin' at ya' from yer local redneck hippie.

I also believe in two different types of angels: the supernatural angels, and angelic people. As far as the supernatural angels are concerned... I've never actually seen one, but I've felt their presence.

When I was a kid (about nine-years-old) I was playing around the construction site for my new house. There was a big pile of dirt I was climbing on that was right next to the drop-off into the basement part of the house. Suddenly, I lost my footing and started falling back into the hole. I was a goner. However, I felt someone push me back up to my feet. Did I see anyone? Nope. But someone certainly made sure I didn't take that fall. I was a bit spooked, though relieved.

My older sister claims she has seen an angel twice. My youngest sister claims she can see dark spirits (ghosts), which I think I actually believe because she was able to see them when she was very young... when she would totally freak but be unable to explain why she was scared.

My whole family is pretty "tuned in" to this supernatural type stuff. A bit freaky at times... but anyways, yes, I believe angels are among us.

This is amazing. Can you make a blog post about it with more details about your family being "tuned in" to the supernatural?

Love to!

If you've seen the results of the latest poll reported by ABC and in The Washington Post, the majority of people do believe in angels. One researcher, Stark, said the belief in angels has been a "taboo" subject and that people have sometimes thought you're not "all there" if you express a belief in them. This made me chuckle. At least believers are in good company!

The poll and consequent discussion of it have shed some light for me on my work over the past few years. A writer, I had a children's book, "The Time-for-bed Angel," published just this month. (Yes, one of the main characters in this book is a guardian angel!) I tried for years to get a U.S. publisher to publish the book. I then tried two overseas publishers, and one of them bought it right away. Now, eight years after I wrote the book, it is selling internationally and in both inspirational and regular bookstores to people of many faiths--Muslim, Jewish, and Christian among them. Do I believe in guardian angels? Yes. And I also believe I must have a particularly good one! :)
