Today was an awesome day!! I had a very nice lunch with friends and played basketball for the first time in like a year.The reason as to these events are worthwhile is the fact that we do this to participate in a community wide event. The Increase the Peace Tournaments are a way for many clubs in the community to get together and have a "friendly" competition; as if none of us actually take it to a higher level of pure raw competition! Anywho, I truly value these events because I feel connected to the community in a different way. Things like the service learning projects we do in class to get credit towards graduation has nothing on these competition.
During the training time, A.S.I,A,N. Club puts the best players out there. (For those of you that think this club is exclusively asian only, your wrong! We encourage other ethnicities to be part of our club. This club is meant to be a place where asian culture can be explored and studied and celebrated. To support that point our president is mexican-slavadorian. He's a really close friend of mine and open minded and awesome!!) Not necessarily the best spikers or the tallest player or the fastest one, but we want players who can work with each other to make the best out of this experience.
During the competition, we compete against other clubs in the community. Among these participants include Youth United for Community Action (YUCA), Magnet, University Preparatory Program, Downy Recreational Center, and many more. We all to this to feel like a whole group who wants the best out of the community. We congratulate each other and cheer each other on like mad fans.
For those of you that are interested, try to organize something like this event. Create a competition or event that brings everybody together because it really creates a closer relationship within groups. These programs are meant to teach kids team work, good working habits, and friendly competition. Celebrate that goal and success! And most important of all, spread the PEACE!!!

So unfair......we lost one game but won the other 4 and only got 3rd place. TOTALLY UNFAIR!! I DEMAND A REMATCH AGAINST JYC GREEN!!!
